I get the following error message:

"The dynamic link library ICMP.DLL could not be found in the specified path
C:\Windows\sytem 32; C:\Windows\System32; C:\Windows\system; C:\Windows; C:\Windows; C:\Windows\system32; C:\Windows\system32\WBEM."

The problem occurs as the login screen comes up. I click OK a couple of times, and it goes away and I can log in normally. Everything works, but when I try to access the internet, the modem connects, begins to verify password, then gives me an Error 720. I'm assuming the two are related as the internet problem is the only issue the machine is giving me.

I have run the system file checker and Windows 2000 repair program. I have also had it go back to the last known good configuration to no avail.

HELP!

try installing windows on top of this one, maybe somehow the dll got deleted? ICMP is related to internet functioning as in "icmp ping" I don't know all the specifics on it, but if you really wanted to know all about it I'm sure they could tell ya over in networking.

Re-installing certainly sounds better than formatting.

I'm not sure what happened exactly. I uninstalled a few programs that weren't 2K compatible, and when I rebooted, I had the problem. So I guess one of them was associated with the DLL, which seems strange because the programs I uninstalled were Sandra and a bunch of Canon ScanGear programs. :p

Re-intalling did the trick! Thanks, DaiShan. Unfortunately I lost SP2 . . . is it critical to have? Everything is working right now, I don't want to hose it up again.

I tried SFC, as I said. Didn't work. Don't know if it was Kidd's fault, but it certainly wasn't Marbury's.
