I just installed win2k pro on my new computer. So far the computer is jus tthe basics. I have a cd-rw, a t-bird 900, a7v, 320 megs of ram, and a geforce 2 gts installed. All other components are not in yet.

When i install win2k, it goes thru the setup and does the first boot into the splash screen, and then hangs. I figured i'd try booting thru safe mode. I did this and got 2 errors.

first:

Setup had problems registering the following OLE DLL: C:\winnt\system32\initpki.dll.

second:

The signature for win2k pro setup is invalid. <<something>> code is 800b001

unknown trust provider.

What happened?? I tried installing win2k with my ata/100 connection, but the install would die after 99% complete, with a bad_trade_place error, i believe. SO i hooked it to ata/33 and it installed, and now hangs. Grrr...

Help please...

I am thinking there is either something wrong with your Win2K CDROM, or you may have a RAM problem.

Normally faulty RAM will still count up to the right amount. It's just that particular chips which fail will still test out OK by POST. You need to run a RAM testing program....I don't have a link right now though...:(

well, its not the ram. I think it could be the install, but i have no way of testing. I looked on a few win2k sites, and both of those errors are IE related, which makes no sense to me...
