First I was almost positive I wanted a AX200U... then I started having doubts about how reliable it would be... and the price. Then I started looking at the Mitsubishi HC1500 but have now basically decided against that due to the limited placement options. This morning I was looking at the Sanyo PLV-Z5 which looks to be a good overall projector. Not as bright as the others but it will allow me to place it behind me on a cabinet that is about 42.5" high and with the vertical adjustment will let me have a very good size image from about 11' away. I'll be sitting about 10' away from a ~92-100" image.
Any other serious contenders I should look at? I'd rather not spend the $1300 for the AX200U mainly because I don't know how reliable it will be. The Mitsu is the cheapest at about $845, but would basically require me to ceiling mount unless I wanted a <70" screen. The Z5 is about $1100 so it's positioned nicely between the 2 extremes.
The more I research the more I keep swaying back and forth. I've got a piece of notebook paper at home full of throw distances and screen sizes. I think I'm losing it a little bit.
In comparison the audio side of things is much easier... pretty much decided on the Onkyo 908 or 904 setups. By the time I save up for one of them after buying the projector they'll probably be an even better deal than they are now. 😉
