Things like this make me VERY, VERY, VERY angry. Normally a 12khz whine wouldn't be a problem - because most pop/rock/rap/etc. albums don't break into the higher frequencies, so you could just drop that band entirely. But this is a classical album and it makes EXTENSIVE use of the higher frequencies. And there's also a LOT of silent moments - where the 12khz scream gets EXCESSIVELY annoying.
I got it used (it's out-of-print), the distributor said it was guaranteed to play perfectly. I guess I'll have to see if they really meant that. I've tried several drives, and it's present on all of them. I *MAY* end up doing the blasphemous thing, tracking down the EXACT frequency and just KILLING IT. Hopefully that won't damage SQ *THAT* much (because lord knows this does a good bit of damage on it's own).
Thoughts? Comments? Anyone wanna cry with me?
Edit: At first, I'm like "Oh my god my speakers are dying" - and then I looked at Winamp's visualization and there's this little tiny bubble up at 12khz. "Oh no." And all this after I'd waited 11ty hours for EAC to do it's work in Paranoid mode.
