argh this construction noise is intolerable now.

A couple of my friends, when the apartment building is having major renovations done, have gotten a break for rent for the inconvenience of having all the noise.

Are they just fabulously lucky?

Because for the last few weeks, there's been some work being done on the wall on the outside of my bedroom, about a foot away from my head. Starts at 8-8:30, and this is major stuff that shakes my room. The construction workers cuss their heads off too.

Is it worth trying to complain to my building manager for a break on rent? What angle should I take?

edit: grr... now they're playing awful music from an awful radio and one of them is singing along. i stayed home to work because everyone's using all the computers in the lab but i can't get any work done with this.

what do i say? do i say, 'the construction stops me from sleeping, i think i deserve a break on rent.'
or do i get red faced and just go in and complain that it's really loud?

i don't really have anything to hold over them, as if i were to threaten to move out they could replace me no problem.

hmm i wonder if there's something in the lease about it.
