Well I use Audiogalaxy mostly but at times it is very slow (the webpage, not transfer speed I don't care about much since it's fast usually). It has a ton of songs and it's good but I'd like to have another too.

Ones I tried recently:
Limewire - good selection, nice interface. Pretty much no transfers started though and they were all errors so I got rid of that quickly.
Morpheus - tons of stuff, slow as hell when it finally did transfers. Never got one that exceeded 5k/sec. I don't like the way it searches either...
iMesh - good d/l speeds, pretty bad selection. And wtf is with these programs and quality with stars? Is that ping? WHy can't they just show the ping itself and show the quality of the mp3 too I don't want this 96kbps crap.

I tried WinMX several months ago and wasn't too impressed. Don't remember why. What's left?

Oh yeah forget Napigator. It takes 15 minutes to get on a server.

thanks

I'm having some success with audiogalaxy and morpheus but like you said none of them are very fast. Once in a blue moon is a transfer fast, otherwise I get maybe 10-20k/sec. All of these new setups are good in theory but so far they suck for most people who try and use them.

Napster was the king.

I use Morpheus now, but for MP3's, it sucks balls compared to Napster though.

Napster still works fine for me.
Is it suppose to be shut down or something? I was just on last night...

Or did it just go down today?

Hmm.

Sam Goody, Virgin Megastore, Wal Mart, K Mart, Columbia House, BMG, Best Buy . . . the list goes on and on. :D

Try looking for anything even mildly popular on napster and it comes up with nothing. Its almost worthless now!

NotoriousJTC: Will check it out, thanks.

Skoorb: Well Morpheus for me was pitiful. I don't get why it downloaded the file from like 4 different people either. Audiogalaxy is okay but for instance right now I get error messages when I try to search for songs. I think it is too busy because when it does work it is VERY slow to load up pages.

Stefan: Yes it was good for other types of uh, files.

Noriaki: Still up but as said most of the songs are gone because of copyright stuff. Even some of the music I listen to that isn't very popular is gone.

erub: Did it happen to crash when you used that search box on the opening screen?

Xerox Man: Uh, yeah. I'll check those out. :)

I got one to try... hehe any others?

edit
I got Rapigator but the only server it can connect to is Napster which obviously blocks most songs. Like the interface though!

Guess I'll have to try WinMX maybe it's better now.

Ah ok makes sense.
Anything "midly popular"...chances are good I don't like it.

I don't like very mainstream music.
