I'm seasoning my cast iron pan in my oven.. and some invisible fumes are triggering the smoke detector every few minutes so I have to fan it every time :| There isn't any visible smoke so I'm assuming certain chemicals that result from high-heat burning is triggering it..

Is it OK if I temporarily seal it up or something? I'm thinking that would probably violate some fire safety code or what.. what should I do?? I already have all windows open and vents on

If you want to take a chance, just take out the battery temporarily.
