Ever since I upgraded from my old 17" CRT to my new 19" one, my eyes have been feeling the strain, bad. Is there any reason a new/bigger monitor would kill them so bad when one only slightly smaller & slightly older didn't even hint at the problem? Is there anything I can do short of getting off the computer to reduce the strain?

Odd that you'd have less strain with 60 than 75!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't any new monitor be able to do over 75hz, or are you running at 2048x1576 or whatever it is? :p

I just plugged it in and it worked, so I didn't pay much attention to it. I'm sure it can do ~85, but not too sure on the settings, guess I'll look into it. My old monitor was a cheap 17" with a max reso of 12x10, and it could only do 60 in that reso (which I used).

increase the refresh, maybe turn down the brightness? perhaps the intensity of the new monitor is the culprit behind your fatigue.

Turning down the brightness worked ok till I tried watching a dvd, it was as if I was looking through a tinted window :(

Depending on your vid card, you may have an overlay setting to correct that. DVD playback is what the overlay tab is for. ;)
