Argh my BP6 is dead..i think :( Help please

Well, i have a BP6 with 2x 366s, and last week (just before i left to go to music festival) it decided to just stop working, well, after a piece of wire i think touched the board, tho the wire was insulated...😱

Now i've just had a chance to have a look at it, and the PSU was definately fried, as well as the fuse blown on the plug. I have hooked up another PSU, but when i turn the PSU on, the cpu fans just spin really slowly, and nothing else happens, until about 10 seconds later, i get beeping from the speaker, a long beep followed by a short beep, repeated indefinately.

If i plug in GFX card (PCI Voodoo3) then the HDD LED just comes on as soon as i give the PSU power, and a few seconds later, the same beeps.

I have just tried it with a different CPU (a single 400) and its still the same. Does this mean my board is dead? 🙁

A number of the undocumented beep codes are memory error codes, maybe try a known good stick of RAM?

I have tried it both with and without RAM in, and without RAM i'd expect to get a different beep, yeah?

I have some ram in the computer downstairs i could use, but i still don't *think* it would be that..?🙁

My BP6 bit the dust a few days ago, too. 🙁 I feel your pain. I replaced it with a ECS/1.2 t-bird combo. I hope to spend some time with the BP6 and get that going again soon. I miss having a duallie! 🙂

I might even get an ECS board and a 1700/1900+ from work, put my the ECS and the Athlon from my machine downstairs, put the XP in in my machine, and put the KT7 and Duron 850@880 (more when better cooling) as server...more reconfigurations and probably reinstalls of Windows!

But it'll be worth it!

But then again, i also want to do up my car....decisions decisions

I think u should go for a new XP mobo, and get a 2000 or something cuz they're so cheap now and u'll do WU's like there's no 2moro, sorta! My 1800 averages 3:45 so it would certainly be able to do lotsa those WU's 😀

Actually, I agree with Hellburner. I have had so much trouble with RAM this past year and none of the beep codes that I got in any of the instances, were even close to suggesting that the problem was the RAM. But sure enough, every time, that was the problem. 🙁

It may not be the problem in your case, but before you ditch it, give it a try with a different stick and at least rule that out.

OK, Poof, just for you 🙂)) i will go pull a stick of RAM out of the computer downstairs....be back with results in a couple of minutes

Edit: Just remembered i need the PSU out of the one downstairs too, and that's a PITA to get out (esp when it's nearly 12am and i'm ill!)

Will do it in the morning then report back! Until then, keep the suggestions comin
