My Ti4200 retail for under $100 search is not working out, so I was about to pull the trigger on this: http://www.essencompu.com/nupplysingar.asp?ID=2920 for $130 total. It's got a nice quiet fan (which I want) and VIVO (even though I don't really need it). Then I saw this: http://www.allstarshop.com/shop/product.asp?pid=7620&sid=D9GAW8N5DVV18NXTHVLX1A2LKCGQ17W2 for less, an original 5600, non ultra. According to Tom's the 5600 (even non ultra) is faster than a Ti4200, especially with AA and AF on. So I should definitely buy one of these two over the Ti4200, right?
 
fx5600 non ultra is quite a bit slower than a ti4200 without AA/AF on. I would buy a ti4200 instead. Your first link to that ti4200 can be had for less, I believe I saw the same one at newegg for $122. As for your third link, don't be fooled into thinking that's a fx5600 ultra, cause it's definitely not--just gainwards deceptive marketing.
 
Yeah I know about the Ultra/Non-ultra crap...and Gainward's model naming...

As for Newegg, there's tax and shipping for me, making it more than the $130 I have linked.

So does Tom's testing just suck? Cause he shows the 5600's outperforming the 4200's...

Oh yes I don't know if you've considered the R9500 or R9500pro, but you might look into it as it will be around that pricepoint too and having used a TI4200 VIVO (Asus V8420 Deluxe) and also having run a R9500np stock, I'd say the R9500np stock was about as fast (maybe a little faster) as the TI4200 and also had all the DX9.0 hardware in it too. But if you've already narrowed your field down to a TI4200 or FX5600, then just ignore my opinion and enjoy your buying decision.
 
Heh, I don't know what it is about tom's hardware, I just don't trust the place. In every other review I've seen, the ti4200 has come out ahead in almost all cases where aa and af are off.

No I don't have it narrowed down to those two. After looking at more reviews, it does seem as though Tom's is, umm, messed up. I'll look into a 9500np. Thanks.
 
Geforce ti4200 $100.95

but this one has only 4X AGP suport, upgrade costs $17. It has other useless upgrades but this might be what ure looking for. Even im looking for a ti4200 but this is the 1st time im buying online and want o know if this is what exactly im looking for. I mean is this the same thing as snowairg found out? And others that sell in the same price range
