WMP stopped working a while back, and when I say start working I mean it won't even load. I'll click the icon and nothing will happen. Lately, IE and AIM do the same thing, except they load, they just freeze before I can do anything. Should I run an antivirus or something? I have no idea where to even start on this....

OS & a little PC info might help.
Do run your AV & whatever else you have in Safe Mode.

I'd start with http://housecall.trendmicro.com to remove viruses/spyware. If that doesn't help, you may have a really nasty spyware. Try running hijack this!. You could save the log file and post it here, and we'll tell you what to delete.

Additionally, you could try testing for hardware faults with prime95 torture test, or memory errors with memtest86.

Things stop working when one sticks their finger into the mix.

Besides repairing what damage is done, honestly think about what you did to the system a few days before it started to fail you.

Fix it until it's broke ftw.

if you dont have any viruses then do an error check on your hard drive aka chkdsk. Go to my computer right click on the hard drive go to properties. under error checking click check now. your computer will reboot. Dont press the keyboard or anything. Dont reboot while is doing it otherwise bad stuff will happen! that should fix it.

Run Prime95 for a few hours to check for math errors. A few of my games were seriously fucked due to math errors caused by an unstable overclock (I didn't know it was unstable since it never crashed the OS itself).
