I dunno wants wrong with me....i already have a SRDET powered 240sx...but i hate driving it daily. I've been thinking about getting a motorcyle to troll around...but i want something where i can haul a few peeps and some computer equipment...so i've been looking at TYPHOONS!!! how does one get rid of the get a new/used car itch?
In 1991, GMC made a truck called the Syclone. It was basically a Sonoma (S-10) with a 280 horsepower turbocharged 4.3-liter V6 engine and All-Wheel Drive. Only 2998 of these amazing vehicles were built. These trucks had typical performance results of: 0-60 mph in 5.0 seconds, and the 1/4-mile in 13.8 second. These numbers distinguish it as the quickest production truck EVER! The truck was also lowered and fitted with unique 16x8 aluminum alloy wheels and 245/50/VR16 Firestone Firehawk tires to improve handling. The brakes were enhanced with a four-wheel ABS system, with drum brakes on the rear, and disk brakes on the front.
In '92, GMC introduced the Typhoon. A Typhoon is basically the Sy hardware and drive train stuck in a S-15 Jimmy-type body. These sold slightly better (about 2500 in '92) than the Syclone, but Tys were a little slower since they weighed about 200 pounds more. Although in March 1992, Car and Driver Magazine tested the Typhoon and it ran 0-60 in 5.3 seconds, and the 1/4-mile 14.1 seconds. Sales lasted through '93 (another 2200). Because of this, very few people actually know what a Sy or Ty is. ("Did you modify that Blazer yourself?" is a common question.) And just remember, those of you with "performance" cars: These performance numbers are for a stock truck. There are MANY trucks that I know of running low 12's and even 11's with only a few modifications
