Hot swap is an OPTIONAL feature of SATA... most mobo makers are too cheap to bother including it, you got one that is high enough quality to even include the option SATA features, rejoice.
Intel drivers also automatically detect drives as they are added. Subsequent removal may require the likes of "HotSwap!" though since no longer handled via the Windows "Safely Remove..." icon.
