OK, a buddy of mine handed off a website he'd been managing to me. It was on a free 20m account. I made a new layout for the page in Sierra Web Studio, and was getting ready to load it up. I try to connect to the 20m thing (thru Web Studio) but it tells me either the username or password is incorrect. "Bull", I say, and try to connect using WS_FTP. Well, it tells me that 20m's free accounts don't allow FTP access. (Huh? Why would you provide free webspace and no FTP access? I guess they just want you to use their "page building" thing.)

So, I decided to sign up for a geocities account, figuring I would just put a "click here" type link on the 20m page. After, trying for about 20 mins to find an unused username, I finally land "pianoacademy2002". SO....

Web studio has a built-in automated Geocities thing. I enter my username and password, etc, and when it asks for the directory path I tell it "/pianoacademy2002". This seemed to fit the little example box they gave. Well, I try to upload and it gives me the same garbage about username or password being incorrect. Bah!

Anyone have any suggestions?

edit: I now have also tried: Uploading via the default FTP thing in Web Studio, and just entering all the geocities ftp info. It now says the operation times out. I have also tried logging into my geocities account via WS_FTP, and it says "logon failure."

Can't help you with the web studio, but geocities disabled ftp access a couple months ago.

Well, that would explain it. However, in my confirmation email they sent me today, it includes their FTP address...hmm....Thanks for the Info though.
