ARGH!!! Adware...

OK, I ran Ad-Aware like 3 times, and I still can't get rid of it all. Every time I do a google search I get like 4 ads injected into the search results that don't show up if I refresh. Anybody have any ideas? I'm going crazy....

Get Spybot Search and Destroy. It might catch what Ad Aware missed.

Oh, and switch to Mozilla until Windows XP SP2 comes out. They'll be putting in some fixes that will block pop-ups and the automatic installation of those toolbar add-ons.

Try CWShredder. Just search google.

I had something that I couldn't get rid of with Adaware or Spybot, but that did it. Kills "CoolWWWSearch" and variants.

I hope you don't mind me jumping in here, but I would like to ask, how come when people ask about adaware people respond with "GET Mozilla"?

does it eliminate spyware? thanks

No it doesn't but it stops you being infected with Spyware/Adware which is designed to execute on IE browsers.

Exactly, just like Linux/Mac machines are immune to the viruses/worms that are targetted specifically at Windows.

make sure you have the newest version of adware (build 6.181)
I was running the older version but after installing the new one yesterday it found 84 items.
