Hi everybody I need some help building a new computer..
i just recently got back into the hardware scene and so I don't know which motherboard to buy. I want a board that has the best stability, fastest performance, and is easy to overclock if the need arrives. I'm really confused as to all the different kinds of chipsets (VIA133, ALI, AMD751, etc).. i'm pullin my hair out here!
So far, i've bought:

toshiba 16x dvd-rom
256 mb crucial ddr pc2100 (thinking of adding 256 more)
hercules gametheater xp
maxtor 60gb 7200 rpm (woohoo thanks anandtech & staples!)
preordered an athlon 1.4 ghz oem
thermaltake super mini orb from newegg(is this a good cpu fan?)

and i'm transferring my old keyboard, mouse, and monitor from my old computer to this new one. All i need is a case (was thinking about antec sx1030 or 1040), mobo (need a ddr solution? and the above requirements! btw money is no object), and video card (geforce3 oh yea baby!)... anyone have any suggestions for a new motherboard that would work best with what i'm gonna get? thanks all!

Do a search on the forums and you will see a lot of good choices from ASUS, EPOX, MSI, Gigabyte.
You should decide what chipset you want. AMD761 is probably the best choice now, but VIA KT266 has a brighter upside. Ali is bringing up the rear.

I would keep an eye on the cooling with the CPU fan. I bet the 1.4Ghz CPU is going to be a hot one and Thermaltake Fans don't cool as well as Taisol and GlobalWin or Swiftech.

Really, if money is no object, I would not go with an Ali chipset mobo. according to all the reviews I've read.

Nice system. Congratulations on winning the lottery.
