about 300ft i think
but i live closer than that

Simple solution, Wiley Coyote. You need the Acme Network Expansion kit. If you order now it should arrive immediately. Unfortuantely, it will likely not work as planned and end in your computer crashing.

Just get some wireless gear, and away you go. You can do 10baseT over about 1,000 feet with usually no problems as well (although I'm fairly certain that is out of spec)

(done it)

Wireless ethernet is 11 mbps, & I believe the official spec is 1500 feet with no obstructions. That can quickly be chopped to 300 in an office environment. It should be able to easily cope with the distance from one side of a street to another.

I was in the same boat as you. Dearborn Hts., which is 600 ft. from me, had cable modems 2 years before Dearborn did. I kept threatening my wife that I was going to string a cable over Outer Drive. BTW if my house was in the Heights it would be worth less. UGH!
