ARG! Paid $369 For Car Alarm =( - Sales Guy Got Me Good

Well I was going to just go in to listen to the different alarm sounds, but this guy just got me good.

I'm usually the guy that has to do months of research before buying.

First the guy asked if I knew anything (DAMN, I can't lie.. I said "I'm just doing research at this point, don't know jack") Then he started saying $399, 389, 379.. This guy started saying he'll throw in this and that if I do it today. He finally said $369 including tax...

Clifford Intelliguard 7000 for $369 installed. Turns out all features he said he'll give me was the normal feature of the alarm (I guess he didn't lie).

Did I get ripped off for $369? Man.. why is it that any car related purchase, I have to feel unsure like this afterwards. =(

I don't know about your system, but install is usually pretty expensive. I paid around $280 for my alarm, backup battery, and install. My alarm is pretty basic, too.

Clifford is over rated. You could pick up an avital (avoid code alarm) and install it yourself, it's not that hard. If your car is japanese it's almost all negative trigger.

$369 is too much for a car alarm. If you're going to do it make sure they braid the wires, do not let let use inline connectors (solder or crimp only) and for gods sake don't locate the siren somewhere that's obvious.

369 isn't bad

like NewSc2 said, I paid 960 installed for mine 🙂

but where'd you buy it at? Since 90% of the time install is more important than the actual alarm

clifford makes avitel alarms. avitel is their budget line.

Uh, what does listening to the alarm sound have to do with anything? Would you buy an alarm if it played "Hey Diddle Diddle" over one that played the standard "hey look someone either is stealing my car, or the wind set it off" alarm you hear?

I don't know if you know anything about car alarms, or stereos for that matter, but the install is THE most important aspect. A poorly installed system done by Beavis at your local Radio Shack will turn a multi-thousand dollar alarm system/car stereo into a piece of crap. It takes experience and time to do it right, and neither is cheap.

I was trying to decide between Clifford Arrow3, Clifford Intelliguard 6000, 7000, or 8000
all had different alarms.

-insignia alarm
-medallion alarm
-self powered alarm

Had no clue what's the difference so I went to go check it out, if that's alright with you.
