Arg! My webhosting account got suspended!

Lifer
This account has been suspended.
Either the domain has been overused, or the reseller ran out of resources.

i went over on bandwidth at the worst possible time.....i'm expecting a large spike in traffic in the next few days. 🙁 i've emailed the support people to try to figure something out. i did a backup last night, but forgot to download it. damn, i know this is my fault since i should have been following the bandwidth closer. i just thought i'd be ok through the rest of this month. i moved all the large video/audio files to a seperate dedicated server just so that i could handle the traffic.

does anyone know if webhosts can usually accomodate situations like this? i just need the site up for the next 2 days, until the next billing cycle. like i said, it's the worst possible time because i'm expecting a surge in traffic in the next few days. 🙁 🙁

edit: i should add that my hosting is with moreweb.com and they've been awesome in terms of support. i'm in no way complaining about them since i know this was my fault.

Happened to me like three times before I moved to Dreamhost -- now I've got 120 GB/month and I barely use one fifth of it.
Your host won't let you pay extra to tack on extra transfers? A lot of places will let you do it at like $1/GB over or something.

not sure yet....i emailed them and i'm waiting for a reply. i hope that i can pay for some extra bandwidth for the next few days.

I ran out too, which is crappy not because I'm really needing it, but I had a few funny videos I really wanted to share with you guys.

i'm slowly starting to freaking out 😕

this is the worst possible timing for my site to be down.

i need to get some coffee....

How much bandwidth do you need, and what is your price range? I'll help you look for a host, since I know how it sucks to go over the limit and have your site suspended 🙁

i think i have my bandwidth issues solved thanks to a member from this site, in the future. the large video and audio files were what caused me to go over. i've moved those to a dedicated server, keeping all my main website files on the current moreweb.com host. i get 50GB per month and that should be plenty without the multimedia files. i'm just stuck for this month.

my website may be mentioned in the newspaper this Wednesday, which is why i'm freaking out that my site is down 🙁. i could point the DNS's to a temporary host just for the day and put a temporary page up.....but i'm praying that moreweb will give me just a little more for the next few days.

What exactly is your site, pistonsbball.com? I'm just curious as to what kind of content will be heavily used until Thursday (assuming you get your monthly bandwidth back on Dec 1st).

it's basically a blog the Pistons NBA team. my site may be mentioned in the papers tomorrow, which is why i desperately want it back online. it has many audio/video related files which is what caused the bandwidth overuse. like i said above, i finally moved all the multimedia files over to a dedicated server, but i wanted to keep the main site on my current host. i didn't want the headaches of migrating the actual site.

holy sh1t i hope this problem gets fixed in time, that is, if your site is going to be in the paper...

good luck

come on GoDaddy!

the usual 24-48 hours to propogate across the world. 😉 But I've gotten results locally in less than 3 hours.

Do you plan on using forwarding ? You do still have access to your latest version of the site right ? Like FTP ?

completely locked out 🙁 no ftp, email, etc.

at the very least, i could put the site up elsewhere just to have it up, but i can't. or i created a temp page that i hope i can forward traffic to, just to let people know the site is down temporarily. i backed up my site last night, but i didn't download the .gz file. *sigh*

wow, nice site. you should increase your bandwidth limit to larger number so you wouldn't have to worry about bandwidth being wasted by downloading users.

it's back again... what'd you agree to ?

well i violated the TOS by going over, thereby getting my account suspended. i (gladly) paid a reinstatement fee go get the site active for the rest of the month. considering how important it was to me to get the site back up by tomorrow, i was more than happy to pay.

moreweb's been great to me, helping me with my first major site and being patient with my n00bishness 😀

<insert told ya so 😛 >

I would have changed how you handle media files (video/audio) and upgraded web hosting a while ago.

Again good luck you're gonna need it 😉

one of my vids got linked all over the Internet on hockey boards across the world... within a week it was downloaded 4000 times... and it was 7MB large. I already had thousands of downloads on other files... thankfully I have an unmetered account at readyhosting. 😉
