I saw her perform ~2006 or 2007 outside of Chicago. She must have been pushing about 260-290 at that point. The more recent pic from 2017...holy shit. 8 years of cancer will do that, and pancreatic. 8 years surviving pancreatic cancer is some sort of heroic feat, but I guess it was a lucky early diagnosis, which very rarely happens. She's in the sub-1% now.

But @76 and the career she has had, quite a life.

Can't imagine how cool the party upstairs would be with her, Prince, David Bowie, Tom Petty etc. Man, so many great musicians are gone.

Bummer, I like her music. :(

I wonder how many of the musicians in The Blues Brothers are still alive?

I wouldn't call myself a Fan, but everytime I heard/saw her perform I was blown away by her immense talent.

Thanks for the memories, RIP

She gave me one last gift as of her passing yesterday, they aired an unscheduled programming of The Blues Brothers (bringing my total times watched to 154).
It was the extended version tho which is kinda crap and has an even smaller percentage of Aretha-to-screentime but whatever.

She knew she had deadly cancer for years and yet did not make a will. Wow.
