Aren't we due for a major earthquake?

It seems like there's a big earthquake every few years, and lately we've been silent in that regard. I think we're about due.

Hmmm, where's Dave?

We haven't had any "earthquake weather" here in NorCal in quite a while. We DID have that little shaker near San Jose in...late October(?) but nothing noticeable here since that one.

Where's dave? What happened to the world-ending quake that was supposed to sink half the country?

I think he perished in the Great Earthquake of December 2007.

Earthquakes follow a power-law distribution, not a Gaussian distribution, so asking that question is rather meaningless.

Why don't you pretend there is an earthquake tomorrow and jump off a building.

Hey, I'll be the first to admit it... I love watching the news about natural disasters. Let a 9.4 quake rip through the Pacific Northwest. Let it generate 200 foot tall Tsunamis. How about a cat 6 hurricane hitting somewhere (between cities). Or how about a big meteor becoming crashed into the center of the ocean. Not too big; I don't want to be extinct. Nothing would be cooler to see from a distance (or see video of)

(Of course, as long as no one gets hurt.)

Natural disasters also present a good opportunity to rebuild a modern city. Just look at Tokyo.

I'm overdue for a major hurricane. But after the evacuation for Rita, I don't think I'm going anywhere the next time around.

Thank goodness we're not in any danger of an earthquake though. ;)
