Areca raid - ZFS FreeNAS

I primary come from raid using HBA & etc. I have tons of raid adapter which is pretty much useless for freenas/openfiler systems

Does anyone know if Areca ARC-1882x can run w/o raid ie pass through mode.. else I gotta buy a new sas controller non raid

Having this card I can confirm that it can pass through drives.
