Area 51, Majestic 12, Roswell, etc. etc.

Did a lengthy research paper on it. Currently, i think area 51 is a nice big distraction. I think that at one time there were big, and secret things going on. Now that its in the spotlight, they wouldn't be dumb enough to try to sneek it under. They're just doing it somewhere else now, keeping moderate activity near and within area 51 as a "diversion".

The UFO conspiracy propaganda was a win-win for the US military. It kept the Russians from finding out about the secret pre-satellite surveillance methods (high altitude balloons, U-2, SR-71, and eventually stealth tech) AND everyone thought they were badass enough to have some kind of alien technology.
As the Cold War was winding down, Groom Lake was used as an illegal hazardous dump (well, technically not illegal, as the military is exempt from environmental regulation). When the lawsuits of civilian employees dying from strange cancers looked like that would blow that cover, they hired a chump to talk about "aliens at Area 51" on Las Vegas TV, and the sheep ate it right up and continue to do so to this day.

The government sucks at keeping secrets.
Second, if they were able to reverse engineer alien technology, I think we'd have seen some of it by now, unless Blu-Ray is the best technology they found.

Was exempt, hasn't been exempt for many years.

The Navy still dumps tons of shit in international waters.
