All that speed from a 600 cc bike? I wonder how fast could it be if it was a 1000 cc or larger. :)

The current lap record is held by John McGuinness from 2013 on a Honda CBR1000RR with a lap time of 17:11.572 and an average speed of 131.671 mph.

Only 24 seconds slower for the 600cc record. That is a bit over 1.5 seconds slower per mile over the course of one 15 mile lap.

I think I quoted the wrong post in my reply. I should have quoted this one:

There is a tradeoff for raw power; handling has an inverse relationship with power because of weight and distribution. I honestly don't think a liter bike could handle a course like that.

I can't watch the video until I get home, but he likely was not using his clutch while up shifting. On down shifts in higher gears, you barely need to pull the clutch in at higher RPMs.

On my 600cc sportbike, I only need to upshift with the clutch in first or second gear.

Ah makes sense thank you is this a general rule for wet clutches? I'm afraid to speed shift with my Suzuki buy I've heard it actually preserves the clutch if you Dont fly it out every shift

Yeah those Isle of Man videos are wild. Those guys are unbelievable to say the least. It is one of the most deadly Motorsport events in the world. Over 200 people have died on the track so far during the event.

Yeah, all there videos are great. I particularly loved the Yamaha wheelie in the turn about mid video, reminds me of the wheelie Kenny Roberts did down the corkscrew at Laguna Seca back in the late 70's if I remember correctly.

I'll be going to Indy for the 500 this year but the TT is on my bucket list and I plan to spend the last week in May and first week in June there some year...

Michael Dunlop has a different way of downshifting than most as it often makes a weird hunting kind of sound. I'd be tempted to say it's a dual clutch thing but don't believe they are using a DCT on race bikes yet.
