Claiming that the failure of economic policy is due to corruption is just as much of a hack. It failed by design mainly.

Apparently you failed to note the last part of my post. This thread was constructed to blame economic policy in order to lambaste policies which very few would endorse in fact. If some corrupt people bribe the politicians and screw things up as a result, then there is a lot of blame to go around. This situation absolves no one. Latvia is screwed for a number of reasons, and yes part of it is stupid economic policies, but it was the government who enacted them in the end, just like we in NY have to deny people use of their Medicaid benefits, in some cases through no fault of their own. You can be proud of us, because none of us want to be charged or fined so we have been obedient and people will be harmed, just as you would have it.

All kinds of people want some very bad things, and unfortunately it's usually someone else besides them that suffer. So it is in Latvia, so it is here.
