I'm happy that the political commercials will finally be off the TV and radio.

?

?? i asked cause i dont know
I don't either.

Today, you vote for governors, and mayors and local town politicians etc etc...
Personally I didn?t vote, because I do not know anyone or what they do. If I went to vote I would basically just go down the line and just choose the democrats, but that?s dumb.

Sorry, I'm opposed to this common statement about "right to complain" and voting. I side with george carlin on this and don't vote since it's a pointless activity akin to masturbation. I'll just paraphrase what he has said.

Where's the logic in it? If you tards go out and vote some moron into office, why am I not allowed to complain? You gave me no choice to begin with as they were all morons. Instead, remember if you vote for a guy who gets into office and does a crappy job, you are responsible for voting them in, you have no right to complain. I, on the other hand, who did not vote am not guilty of anything.

Ok but what about ammendments, refrimendums (sp), Mill levies, Tax hikes to pay for a new fire truck, Zoning laws.... there is normally more to a ballot than electing people into office.

Here in NYC its Micheal Bloomberg vs Fernando Ferrer for Mayor. Bloomberg won a long time ago...

There are other smaller seats to vote on (city council, public advocate..etc). Plus there will be other stuff like amendments and stuff to vote on. I'll probably vote as I usually do.

Well, I'm just objecting to this supposed common sense that I disagree with. The language sounds stupid, and people telling each other who has a right to complain is whacko. I'll complain what I want to complain about. You have no right to tell me what I can and cannot say.

When it comes to voting, I don't vote for a guy. I am not a political fanboy, I have reached the age of reason. As an engineer, I know the difference between specification, design, implementation, and verification. I want accountability in govt, and measurable results, with open books. So if it comes to voting to change a process, like the referendums in CA, I may vote for them, if the govt is open enough for me to track their progress and verify things myself after looking at data. We don't have this, but if it is something I have a stake in and can take an active part of, I will vote because then it matters to me. I don't vote for politicians who just grub for power. And I don't vote on most issues because they are often red herrings or cheerleading. I do occasionally vote in local town-hall meetings in VT as we have a more democratic approach to some things. But in general I despise politics in this country, which boils down to rooting for one team or the other. And no matter what you think, we can't change that, the politicians don't want to help us, they want their power, and their owners want their power even more. There are two reasons a third pary hasn't emerged in our public discourse, and they are called Democrats and Republicans.
