I have a 290 cf system, also for mining, but my main has a 1080Ti.
 
Used to run two R9-290 in crossfire. When it worked it was great. There were too many caveats to keep it though. AMD has since resolved a lot of the issues, but I just don't want to deal with it anymore. I will never go back to it.
 
No, not anymore. I was all about it in its original form. Even years later when NV and ATi brought it back. In todays world, just doesnt seem justified to me anymore.
 
Tried sli once with 2 gtx260's, was working ok-ish, then I switched to a single gtx 470 and everything ran better.

Not about to try it agian anytime soon, limited performance gains and doesn't work with VR.
