These aren't the best of times for most people and I'm curious who is going to pull the trigger with so many great Core 2 processors already out there.

My main focus is gaming and do some SETI@home when $ permit. Planning to hold off awhile as I've little actual need for anything better. I want a 4ghz Nehalem setup badly but it would just be for grins.

So far it looks like the majority of people with machines built in the last three years aren't finding the need.

I'm just going to grab a Q9550, as it suits my needs, and will plug right into the rig I have. Come tax return time or something, I'll reconsider. Maybe then I'll just grab a HD4850 for cheap and go Xfire. It plays the games I want it to as is...

Just upgraded my old X2 6400+ PC in late July with an X4 955. I'm set for a while now.

Recently upgraded to an i7 D0 at 4.2 GHz :D Also have a Q6600 at 3.4 GHz, which may go farther. Next thing to upgrade is probably the video card.

How is the i7 working out for you? OCing a 920 to 4+ghz seems more attractive than any of the new Lynnfield chips.
