I'm 50/50. If I know the emoticon off the top of my head, I'll type it in. If I don't, then I just select it from the menu.

However, I post in "Quick Reply" about 90% of the time, so I don't even get those options.

I didn't know remembering emoticon syntax was a sign of leetness. It's more of a sign of a nef.
