I just ran through my new web-based time retrieval and reporting system for our service division. To explain the procedures I needed to get into detail about the scripts and calculations. I found myself getting really excited about this system I built and began talking faster and randomly leaving off the last few words of a sentence to move on to the next point and using hand motions to demonstrate table relations and pausing for a few seconds while I decided which branch off to take and sputtering while I searched for the right word to use that would make sense. Though some of their eyes glazed over, I just couldn't stop; if anything it just fueled my frantic liturgy.
By the end, they were all impressed, but, after I walked out of the room I began wondering if I looked just like the tech guy from Alias. Then I began to wonder if that's just what talking about stuff you're excited about to people who don't know or care as much about it does to you.
Are you the tweaker tech guy from "Alias"?
