I vote marius. He was a badass and reformed the roman army, arguably leading to it's military greatness.

Also 7 consulships aint bad even though one was self appointed and he then murdered a whole bunch of people, but so did sulla so that doesnt hold anything against him

Most people on the forums are not into obscure Roman history from the past, it that what they are teaching in school these days ?

My wife is even half Roma and I had to teach her a lot about her history

I enjoyed Dan Carlin's podcast on this subject(kinda) in Death Throes of the Republic, i'd recommend it if you have about 13 hours to spare, he tells a great story.
