Are you suspicious when people are *too* nice to you?

I find myself suspicious of people who seem to be "friends" with everyone. They have something nice to say about everyone, but somehow don't seem all that sincere when they say such things. Such persons tend to be the types who run obsessively for student government positions, and are always asking for your vote. They'll say two nice words to you, never anything really meaningful, and then be off on their way to say two nice words to someone else.

Does anyone else get these funny feelings? I just become uneasy when someone's friendliness towards me exists not because they genuinely like me, but because they want my vote.

This has nothing to do with the Presidential election, btw.
 
yeap i am. If someone is to nice to me i get worried.

so i take everything with a grain of salt.
 
Yup, them and people who have too large of a smile but have hollow eyes when they smile. Basically the only people I really like or the people who I originally disliked.

What is wrong with the world these days - If your nice to someone they become instantly 'suspicious'.

Why can't we just all be nice to each other without having to worry about it. Not everybody is after something, well...perhaps common certousy.
 
I'm very suspicious of people who are still nice when I'm being a d!ck.

I don't know why, but I associate nice with Christian.

When someone I don't know real well is uber-nice to me, I generally expect to get a phone call from them trying to get me to sell Amway.

It used to happen a lot when I was a salesman at Sears.
 
It worries me because such persons are being nice not because they like me, but because they want something from me.

I'm not talking about common courtesy here... it's difficult to describe.

Lucky (or unlucky) for you that torts falls under civil and not criminal law. However, I would not mind if you settled for 50k $US. We can do this the easy way (settle), or the hard way (trial) 😀

If it's within business - they are obvioulsy trying to sell you something

If it's political - they want your vote

If it's a random person on your daily travels - then that's what I'm talking about
