One day you could be just mugged face down in a dark alley somewhere and that cab driver comes along and remembers you were the bastard who didn't tip.

Never tip someone who is just doing their job. The only people who should be tipped for doing their jobs are ones who's pay is based off it, ie only waiters and waitresses.

You are suppose to but it isn't required. If I know they ripped me off, like many cab drivers from the airport in Vegas, I just round up to the next dollar. If they get me to where I want without bs'ing me, I usually round up a few extra dollars.
