Nope. I'm there because:
1) Shopping around for jobs is kind of difficult - you can't really properly try out a job for a week to get a full feel for the kind of work and the workplace.
2) The people I work with directly are relatively easy to get along with.
3) Decent supervisor. His rage is generally directed against (willful) ignorance, which seems to always be found outside of the engineering office. 🙂
4) Supervisor also is the one who attends most of the meetings. Us lowly engineers get to stay back in the quiet office most of the time, working on our various projects.
5) Medical+dental insurance deductions add up to about $8 per paycheck.

The pay's certainly not top-notch, but the intangibles are nice too. It doesn't ever leave me feeling horribly stressed, 40hrs/wk is the usual expectation, and work never follows me home.

well, im in a job a despise. only took it cuz it was the only place locally that was offer a job at a descent pay. even with the way the economy is. only reason i have stayed so far is that the economy doesnt seem to be improving and i have to pay the bills some how. im thankful for the job..i just dont like the work i do. the more i do this job the more im convinced that everyone is a pothead.

I love my job. Been working hard and learning new areas and was told today I'm getting a 15% raise because of it. Managers are hands off and let us do our own thing and we frequently get to work from home.

Nope, IT is doing great in my area, lots of jobs. I like my hours, benefits and laid back work environment too much to consider myself "stuck" though, even when higher paying opportunities do come up.

Yes. I'm overpaid for what I do, and I'll never find a job that pays this well with my qualifications. Sucks, but it's a living.

Firtzo & Fobot, do you have enough time to build up some other quals/experience such that you could step up to another job that would atleast keep the same pay status? Or are you doing an overpaid job that also keeps you busy most of the day?

No, at least I don't think so, which is what everyone else who answered No meant. We don't think so but for the most part don't know for sure 🙂
