i went to bed around 11:30 and just as I was about to fall asleep around 11:55 and someone started shooting off a gun and kept shooting it until about 12:10 or so.

Worked it and was off at 4AM. Now hitting the bottle and in bed by 7AM.

We have a New Year's Eve party every year so yes, we stayed up. I think this might be the last year though. The main reason we've always had one was because I was scared to death of one of my wife's super-annoying friends having one and being forced to go, so I thought that it would be best if I could have it on my own terms so if it got really bad, I could retreat to my man cave. I'm going to think of a different strategy next year, though I risk being forced to go to my wife's most annoying friend's house if I don't come up with an alternative.

The issue has been that it is a lot of work and lots of expense and people generally don't appreciate it (though we had a great small group this year, including a guy that I later found out is a professor at MIT). Last year, we had someone bring us two bottles of wine (one OK wine and one $3 bottle). At the end of the evening, she took the OK wine and left us with the $3 wine which was, IMO, pretty rude.

I was asleep at 10, woke up a bit later from a stuffy nose, went back at 11:30, up again at 3:30 from a bad sneeze.

I was up until about 2:30 am... I've had a long ass week and I really wanted my friends out the door at like 12:00:01. lol.

they weren't taking the hints, though, and ended up staying until 2 am (2:15 by the time we got boxes of leftovers packed up and I got them out the door)... then I had to do some light clean-up (rinsing out the dishes so they'd be easier to wash in the morning, taking out the trash so my apartment wouldn't smell like decomposing salad) before my boyfriend and I finally got to pass out.

Turned out that I did, since the neighbors shooting off their midnight fireworks woke me up. Really wasn't that interested in the New Years celebration this year.

It sounded like a fucking war zone around here after about 10 PM. Bottle rockets, fire crackers, BIG aerial mortars, handguns...(there is a distinct difference between the sound of fireworks and gun fire)

I went to bed at 12:30am. Was up at 7am and spent two hour sojourn to get a minivan for one of the stores. We were pretty busy when I got back too. I hadn't slept well the day before so I was dead tired for most of the day yesterday. Not sure how I made.
