Right, right, I forgot the mantra. That 49% of the country that didn't vote for Bush, they're just a bunch of pot smoking hippies who don't represent what "most Americans" want.

I like the site. Kind of silly, kind of stupid, kind of necessary for all the Bush voters who still won't accept that everyone doesn't love their guy.

Now that I've given it more thought, I actually think this site is probably a bad idea. What's the one thing we didn't want to happen after Nov 2nd? Division of the country along Kerry/Bush lines. Some people are trying to move past it, but it seems we're doomed by sites like this one, some Bushies on this board acting like patronizing dicks, and countless other things that are already driving a wedge between the 51% that voted for Bush and the 49% who didn't.

It's only Nov 5th. Does anyone think we have even the most remote chance of uniting as a country in the next 4 years?

My family in Italy called last night and were screaming that we re-elected Bush. I told them America is very sick right now.

Yes, once people stop being patronizing dicks and poor losers.

Obviously they dont since they are only 49% while the other side is 51%. If they represented what the "majority" of America wants then they would be 50 or more %.

As for myself. I dont feel the need to apologize to some guy thousands of miles away. He didnt apologize to me when he badmouthed my country.

We unfortunately won't unite. This culture war will be fought until one side wins, which could be a decade or two away...

Not really, the only way it would happen is if Bush was to say wow, half the country doesn't agree with me, what can I do to placate them ....... like that will happen. He is going off about having a mandate and political capital to spend. Utter BS, he still has a low approval rating and won the election by 3% (assumming massive election fraud isn't uncovered).

And for those argueing that Bush has the most support of any president since 1988 (vote wise). Why isn't Perot mentioned? How often does a third party candidate get into the double digits?

No, but I did see a bunch of young adults without much life experience of which to base their selfish, uneducated, anti-establishment political views. And no, what motivates 18-24 year olds does not represent what most Americans want.

They should have written their signs in French. They would have been better understood by "the rest of the world" that way.

Oh come on, what about the "other" mantra that says that the 51% of the country that did vote for Bush are just a bunch of ignorant, brainwashed, rednecked, religous zealots who hate gays and women's rights?

It works both ways. It's ok and sometimes fun to make the occassional jab at either side, (like the previous poster), but there are some people who really believe the stereotypes. I'd recommend saving your admonishment for them, not these harmless posts.

I'll give you that they have a lack of life experience and they are often anti-establishment, but selfish and uneducated they are not. Those same selfish and uneducated kids have led the way countless times in the past to overturn social injustice such as minority and womens rights. You do a great disservice to Bush's supporters with such a hateful and condescending post.

Hey, can you blame me? Stereotypes about liberals abound, and it's not like they are never used in arguments.

No. Stereotypes abound about conservatives as well. Most are a lot more hateful. I'm surprised about the number of posts about Southerners which seemed to be based on the Beverly Hillbillies, Andy Griffith and Deliverance instead of reality.

And then when/if that passes we still have to deal with the Bush administration policies. Bush said in his victory speech, great, thanks for the mandate, I want to work with all Americans even the ones who voted for Kerry, you just have to support ALL my policies and thoughts without change and then we will get along.

What a great spirit of compromise, NOT. With that speech Bush just put the opposition into guerrilla mode. Good luck unifying the country unless there is some movement towards the center. You can't govern with full support when half the country basically feels screwed, and no, they aren't just going to get over it. Don't talk to me about obstructionist when the "majority" is 51%. It certainly is a mathematical majority but government doesn't work that way. The genius of our Constitution is that it forces compromise by design. The Republicans have more or less short-circuted those protections and I fear the country has been paying and will continue to pay a price for that. How severe the price to be paid will be remains to be seen.

I say "selfish" because I think their political agenda is based on being anti-establishment. They don't base their opinions on reason, logic, or truth, but rather what supports their "anything goes" lifestyle. They're fresh out of mommy and daddy's house, and need to prove to the world (and themselves) that they can make their own decisions, and not follow authority's lead, as they've done their whole childhood. So they smoke, they drink, they use recreational drugs, they're promiscuous, and they don't want anyone to tell them that anything they're doing is bad. That's where the democratic party comes in. The democratic party is the "party" party. They're not going to enforce any morality on you. Wanna smoke pot? The democratic party is for you! Wanna screw around with no concerns because you can end a pregnancy just as soon as you got it? Vote democrat! Want to marry your drinking buddy? Vote democrat! They don't condone ALL your weekend activities, but they're closer than the republican party. Republicans are a buzz kill.

I said "uneducated" because most of them are not college grads. (The 18-24 demographic.)
