I exchanged gifts with my family earlier tonight... my dad got me a collection of 40 years worth of fantastic four comic books on cd. it's a pretty cool gesture, since I didn't know that he knew I recently got back into comic books, but I don't really like the Fantastic Four.

however, my roommate loves them :D it seems like an even exchange to give my roommate the comic book collection ($49.99) and then just keep the $50 Best Buy gift certificate that I bought for him for myself, rather than going through the hassle of returning the gift that my dad got me to amazon.

I gave a bunch of old navy fleeces that I got last year to my mother to regift. She gave out about three. This year, I just got another two or three Old Navy things. I don't have any other gifts to give, so I'll put these in the closet for next year. I feel bad about it, but it's better to give a gift to a very distant relative, then nothing at all.

Some people think that just because a chic likes bath/body products that she likes just about ANY bath/body product.

The lovely but not lovely on me lavendar products were regifted to ladies who really like the scent.

I'm a mandarin orange/citrus kinda gal :)

regifting is definitely economically efficient. You are reallocating resources to maximize joint utility.

I bought assorted vodka gift baskets for the co-workers on my shift. It turns out one of them is a recovering alcoholic and didn't really like the gift ;-( So I re-packaged it and gave it to another friend.

Man that is the coolest present ever from your dad. I can't believe you are regifting it. You don't deserve a father like him.

lol i kinda did. my girlfriend likes this scent from victeoria secret and my mom needed a present for her. my mom didnt know which scent so told me to just grab her a $20 gift card to there. well i got my GF a $40 thing to bath and body works before this and thought that my moms present would be more.....useful if given from me :D . so i told my mom that i didnt get the VS card and got the bath and bodyworks card instead. so she gets the VC card from me and the bed bath and bodyworks from my mom. seems more appropreate if ya ask me.

Ok, well why would you include in your origional post that she was homeless period? Thats not a typical personal characteristic that you just toss around. Now, I could have posted something well written, but when a homeless person gets a flat screen, it deserves a wtfbbq, and perhaps a zomg!

she was homeless about a month ago when I met her, had been homeless for a few months before that. at least she had enough friends to keep her and the kids from living in the car or under an overpass before i met her, so we all chipped in a couple bills and got them into a place. and for christmas we all got them stuff to go into their new place. so i regifted.
what have you done for your fellow man lately?

I'm not saying what you did was wrong at all. I'm just saying that your first post reads "I gave a flatscreen tv to a girl who was homeless". Obviously I needed clarification, because the about a month ago part did nothing for me. With the sentance structure, perhaps you gave her the tv about a month ago.

What have I done? I consider my job enough.

I would, but I recently got a catalog in the mail that said it was the end of regifting this year. I guess that's one of the new provisions of the PATRIOT Act or something.

Heh, no offense intended, I was just inquring further into what I read. And of course no hard feelings. I'll go to bed soon and after a few violent dreams forget that this conversation ever took place :p
