XFL did well and hell, AFL is doing great. Their games are shown prime time. Why not throw out another league.

I think it has something to do with locating the ball for first downs and TDs.

competition is always good...at the very least, it will open the door for more players and make the nfl look at some of its outdated or unnecessary rules and regulations.

Hmm, interesting, it'll probably suck but I'll watch it.

I hope it works out for them. I get ticked off when the NFL channel is the only way to watch a game like they did last year.

I'm a fan of football....don't get me wrong. But the fundamental issues I have with leagues other than the NFL is that they don't play in the Super Bowl and that they'll be recruiting lower-end players. Guys want to be drafted in the NFL simply because of franchise longevity and superior fanbase. That's what gets the star players all of their endorsements.

I do believe the NFL is the perfect size right now and shouldn't be expanded...so maybe this is a good solution for cities large enough to support a team without the means to get an NFL franchise. It's just going to be a long while before it can build into anything sustainable because college and NFL are the majority of the fan-base right now. Most people I know around hare prefer college to NFL and I'm the opposite. I'm not sure the majority of current fans have room for another league.

I forgot to check at home last night but, apparently, according to the TW website, Versus is on my channel lineup.

Tonite, I will have to check to see if it is actually there and if it is by subscription or not.

They'd be better served playing a slightly longer season during the spring/summer when the NFL isn't playing. Dumbasses.

So we can nuke it from orbit when the game sucks.

yeah not sure about this either. See the problem with these leagues that keep popping up is that they're tryign to fix something that isn't broke. Football's fine. Make a new hockey league, and see how well it does.

This is actually a direct result of the NFL wanting to expand the league another week and have a game every Thursday air on the NFL network.

With only 4 teams, though, there doesn't seem like there is room for fierce competition. After 3 weeks they have to repeat.

Looks like they're planning a 6-game season. I would guess there's no playoffs, then - just 1st-2nd/3rd-4th place games.

I'd probably watch.

I'd love to have another pro football league. I had high hopes for the XFL as there was a lot of money behind it, but they royally screwed up with trying to make it "hip". You could definitely pull this off, but I'm not sure what the reason for having the season during the NFL season is. That seems like a bad idea.

But, I wish them good luck anyway. I love football, and would love to see the NFL have some competition someday.

UFL backers are convinced their business and game features - $20 tickets, hard caps on coaches' and players' salaries, a game ball with a GPS chip, a free spirit about end-zone celebrations and cameras televising fiery halftime speeches - will add up to a winning product.

And yes - a guy like Michael Vick is welcome to sign with the United Football League, commissioner Michael Huyghue said. But this doesn't mean the UFL intends to be an outlaw outfit.

This actually sounds interesting, i'll watch.

I find it funny that they want to bring a team to hartford, CT though
