Ok, so maybe Im a sucker, but I paid the $59.99 on Steam to prebuy HL2 and get CS:Source now. At first, I was a little bummed that I wouldnt get the hard copies of the games, but CS:Source is amazing. Is anyone else here playing it? Here are some screens I've taken.

Yup, played until 2am last night, feeling it today :( The game is too addictive, I played CS the day beta 1 was released and quit around beta 7.

I played it a bit. But since I've never played the CS, I've only done some offline play.

I want to get it but I only have a Radeon 8500. I'm anxious to see how Day of Defeat: Source looks also.

I had it at 1280x1024 high detail on everything, 4xAA 16xAF and it was decent, but I noticed some slowdown. I'm gonna turn it down to 1024x768 later on though. Got 104 fps on the stress test.

After playing Doom and, in particular, Farcry, it isn't impressive at all.

But it is still fun :)

OMG....

I really haven't been following this... or any game stuff for the last year or so...

I like it, I'd buy it... what card are you running..? What should I have to run it at good quality?

nm: eVGA nVidia 6800GT @ 420/1100 ;)

I got some slowdown w/ my 9800 pro when I had 4 hostages following me, but it didn't affect the gameplay. I'm not sure how it'd be online with other players though.

Oh, and the level of detail on computers on Office are cool.

I didnt see a single player option...did I miss something?

As for comparing it to Doom3 and Far Cry...Im not so sure. I think the physics engine is far better in HL2 than it is in D3 or Far Cry. The water effects are very good and the object behave really well (as if they are the proper weight unlike in D3). Although I was disappointed by D3. Thought the game play was far too predictable, but that's just me. I also think the glass is really well done.

EDIT: Speaking of the computers. I love how much like a Radeon 9800 the video cards in the comps look:)

it might just be the fact that i only hav 512 mb, or my HD is really slow, and my new sata's comin in should help. and that HD is getting set up for Linux.

Single player = host server & pw protect and just fvck around on different maps. I was mainly doing it to test performance and to get a feel for the game. Co-worker just got a 6800GT (he upgraded from a GeForce 4MX 440), I need to ask him how it plays on that.

Ah. My home PC has 1GB of ram, but the hdd is just a normal 7200rpm/8MB cache.

why is it called CS: Source?

Is that the name of the new CS coming out or does that just mean it's a Beta version right now.

The 'Source' tag on the games means that it's running on the HL2 engine. I was told of some other details of it, but I forgot. Important part is that it's on a new engine, and that it looks purty.

It runs fine on my 9700 Pro at 10x7, 2xAA, 4xAF.

Why does everyone run at 1280 x 1024? 1280 x 960 is the one with the 4:3 ratio, just like all the other common resolutions! :p

LCD Native Resolution?

And Yeah this game is great, almost worth $60 for CS: Source alone but to get Half-Life 2, Half-Life: Source, Day of Defeat: Source, and Valve's Entire Back Catalog is just bonus. I played regular CS from around beta 2, but quit at 1.5. Milking it now before all those cheaters show up.

maybe they are on LCDs :) i am glad i am not one of them..
anyway, i only tried demo and it seemed a bit too slow for me. CS was alredy damned slow and this is even worse. guns/grenades and the rest of the system is totally different too (duh) so it took me a while to get used to. another minor nitpicky complaint : spectator view became seemed to retain intertia while moving around which is kinda annoying.
