?Are you of royal blood?

I have a relative who´s a genealogist. He´s done research in within our family all the way back to the 10th century.
To this point, all relatives are either mother/father ect. (example; mothers, mothers, fathers, mothers, fathers, mothers, fathers name was Anders Johansson and he was just a simple soldier/farmer.

Anyway, he gave me a adress to a website were all of his work have been published.
And guess if I got a bit shocked (although I had herad before that my ancestors were of noble blood) that among my mothers, fathers, mothers ect. There were;
Kings of Sweden(my homeland), Queens/Princesses of Sweden, Queens/Kings of Norway ect.
And I´m also related to many of the most known noblefamilies in Sweden.
My relative who´s done all the reasearch also had found som stories of some ancient relatives (who were Knights) about there "bravery" in battle😛

And another thing that I found quite unbeliveable was that I overcame the works of another genealogist who were related to one of my 17th century relatives. His work went all the way back to BC. And according to his work´I would be related to "Ramses II", and that to just within the range of parent to parent.

So, is there anyone more in this forum who´s got some interesting relatives?

I dunno about my ancestors, but I was Ghengis Khan in a former life....

Actually, I would like very much to know my history, unfortunately, i dont. 🙁

i know my family comes from a line of french nobility. its something like my great (x4 or 5) grandfather avenged the death of his brother, jumonville (sp?) who was killed by george washington's attack on fort duquesne. my great (x5) grandfather attacked for necessity and had GW surrender, signing a document that said he "assassinated" jumonville, not just killing him in a battle. we're pretty sure that guy is part of my family's history because 1) our name isn't very common 2)this guy's grandson, named Francois, who moved to louisiana. there was a francois in my family who lived in louisiana. (i think francois would be my great great grandfather). that's my dad's side. on my mom's, im related to John Carroll, one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence

(number of children)^(number of generations) = approximately a hell of a lot of descendants. I'm sure a lot of people are related to royalty if they trace it back far enough.

yeah, related to some scottish king

posted a thread about 1-2 years ago 🙂
probably related to more in the north

Probably somewhere way back when.. lol..

I think we've only traced out geneology back to the late 1700s.

Even that thought is pretty cool. Can't imagine being able to go back to the 10th century. :Q

How do they even have records from back then? lol

According to the Mormon database, I'm related to various European kings (mostly English) from the medieval period, also Charlemagne.

And while not royalty, it also indicates my great x 12 grandfather signed the Mayflower compact.

my sister gave me a couple hundred pages of my geneology and there are some lords/dukes/earls from england in the relatively recent past 1500's/1600's

if you go really far back , there are some kings of ireland or something like that

i'm pretty sure we are all related to royals (and to each other) if you'd just go back far enough....

funnily enough, one of my lasting regrets relates to this - before my paternal grandfather died, he made me and my bro sit down and take notes while he dictated the family tree as he remembered it... it went back 5 generations and he was hazy about anything beyond that. he insisted that we should memorize at least what he remembered... and guess what - my bro lost that piece of paper and my grandfather passed away the year after...

i was about 12 then and my bro was 14... understandably we had other things on our mind at that age... but now he's gone, and none of the aunts and uncles seem to know very much... what a pity...

Indeed. That's too bad.

Yes. I was in the castle a couple of years ago. But, it is so far removed, that I bet I have to pay next time I enter.

Well, actuallay, as I mentioned Ramses II they´ve gone back to BC, before the birth of Christ.
And once you get into royal families, it´s easier to track down because they´re so well known.
Example, Since I´m related to Ramses II, I´m also related to Ramses I.

Which castle are you talking about?

My grandmother (father's side) traced her lineage back to Ralph Neville, first earl of westmoreland (her maiden name is westmoreland).

My last name written in Chinese means King, no big deal. Its like a ton of koreans with the last name of Kim or Lee. Obviously there is royal blood/lineage but nothing to get worked up on.

The farthest from my father's side I could find is 1610, from the Netherlands. In that, there is a direct blood-link to the House of Orange, the current ruling house of the Netherlands. As well, there is a Major-General, an Admiral and several staff officers who fought with Wellington at the battle of Waterloo.
