Are you motivated and enthusiastic about your work and your future?

As a 24 year old grad student (law), there are very things I look forward to in terms of work and jobs. I can imagine a few careers that I would enjoy, but most of them are extremely hard to break into (teaching, politics, etc).

In a broader sense, I feel that my peers and I are often somewhat lazy and listless because we are extremely cynical and jaded, even at our fairly young age.

Anyone feel the same way?

I feel the same way about my peers but I actually have 3 really good prospects at the moment that im excited about. Only problem is I have to choose one.

im motivated and enthusiastic about my job. Of course, I'm doing what ive wanted to do for a very long time and all my efforts went into getting it. Try not to get too jaded...everything sucks, just making the most of it is what matters.

Nope. Not since they told me I am being reassigned to the IT department. If I wanted to be in the IT department, I would have started there. Business is a lot more fun.

I feel somewhat motivated about what's in store for me, in the near future. I still have some great opportunities to look forward to.

I have a very stable job with a decent salary and excellent benefits, and I'm on track to be completely debt-free within 10 years (including a paid-off house). I enjoy what I do for a living, and I work with an awesome group of people. What's not to be optimistic about? :D

I am hungry enough to feel motivated. It is either work or starve. Don't have much choice. They way I look at it, I am happier when I am working. May as well be happy as be sad. I don't want to be know as Mr Grumpy.

If I wasn't motivated and enthusiastic I would have to say it's time to look for another job.

My ideal work place is having fun and getting paid for it.

And depending on what your passions are, it can happen.

The day you treat your job as a job (ie, going to a place to work to have an income), is the day you outta figure out what do you really want to do with your life.

Motivated by the 1st and 15th!

While I have a great career and do enjoy my job I'd much rather be doing a myriad of other things. Too bad you need money to raise a family or I'd be working for National Geographic and learning how to speak like the tribes of Vanuatu.

Well, today, no. I'm currently working in IT and it's extremely boring.

But for the future, my company is sending me to the beach for a few years to learn a new job that looks very promising and enjoyable.

The future looks bright.

you have my deepest sympathies.

Would you work at your current job if you had $20 million in the bank? Yes, it's nice to say "I love my job and would work here even if I didn't need the money," but the reality is there are much more exciting things in life than being tied down to one thing for 40 hours a week.

Yes, but if you don't make something more of it, you are going to have a real boring, depressing life. Enjoy!

For myself, I lasted in a job that I didn't like for two years. I was motivated, and I switched companies. Again, I don't like this job, but I have to deal with it for at least a couple years in order to get some stability on my resume. I have lasted here for three years so far. I'd like to get 4-5 years down before I jump ship.

actually, i wouldnt quit. id surely work less hours, but i wouldnt outright stop working. ive done that for extended periods of time, and it gets old. you can only sit around for so long before needing something to do. my work is fun, i enjoy it. id keep doing it if i had 20 mil in the bank.
