A lot of times it sure doesn't feel like it. Though I do help a lot of other people with volunteer work where I can and do little things like driving people when they have places they need to be. So that's something I guess...

Of course, waking up tomorrow in good health (physical/mental) is not a guarantee. So make the most of the time you have. ;)

I actually thought you meant doing meaningful stuff like charity work and helping people, not eating and getting drunk.

I had Bravo sauce today. I never had it before, but there was a huge backlash when they stopped making it, so now it came back. Saw it in the grocery store and I had to try it. It's ok, but my own sauce is better. :p Spaghetti sauce is like one of the few things I cook that I actually really enjoy. I'm not really a good cook.

One of my neighbors is 89 and in declining health...several heart attacks, pacemaker, etc. He says, "Any day you wake up without a tag on your toe is a good day."

Yeah, I think I'm making the most out of my life. Beside having a full time job (I used to write software, now I make PowerPoint and Visio charts all day), I got myself elected onto the HOA board of directors 6 months ago and I've been busting heads from the beginning.

I forced firing of several contractors for doing poor work or ripping off the HOA. The list includes the landscaping company, the pool maintenance company, the pool monitoring company, the porter service, and finally the HOA management company for gross mismanagement. They've all been replaced with the new HOA management company starting August 1st. I didn't do it alone, but if I didn't press the replacement of vendors, the HOA board in its complacency would have continued with the same poor service. All of these new vendors are now on 1 year non-automatic renewal contracts.

In addition, I got the approval and had installed high speed internet for the pool cabana area. This also allowed me to set up two networks. One network I connected the security cameras to for off-site storage of security footage. The other is a guest network for use by homeowners at the pool.

The HOA was also paying $280 a month for keycard access for the pool area, which they had been paying on for 7 years. I got it approved and I installed a new keycard system with all new equipment which can be accessed over the web, for a total of $1,857. The system will pay for itself in 7 months.

The HOA was paying $75 a month to have a phone at the pool cabana for emergency calls. Bundled in the high speed internet which we are paying $60 plus tax a month is a phone line for emergency use. So for less than the cost of the phone, we now have phone and internet.

Overall the new vendors have been doing a great job, and looking at the budget numbers, these changes will have saved the HOA over $11,000 the first year.

On the home front, I built from scratch, a really nice cedar fence/gates that go around my back yard. I didn't buy pre-made panels because I wanted to use pressure treated lumber for the cross boards. I did this for all but one side facing the street.

On the east side of my house I got to use my welding skills and created a really nice rot-iron gate/fence. I also built a rot-iron arch trellis that stands behind the iron gate/fence. My wife is training some sort of rose vine to climb and cover the trellis.

My next projects are:
1) Turning my 3 car (1,120 sqft) garage into a party room with a separate AC unit, while still being able to park two cars inside when not in party use. It will be in a 1950's motif with automobilia and neon signs on the walls.
2) building my wife a new desktop PC.
3) building myself a new customized computer desk with plenty of work space for doing electronic projects (Arduinos/Raspberry Pi's, etc.)

I'm one of those weird people who can't sit still for very long. So being couped up all day at work just drives the desire to build something when I get home.

That is quite a lot actually. Be kind to yourself

And with Google you can select, "Consider me dead after x months of inactivity. After that, delete or save my data (including shared) forever." I chose 'save forever.'

So as long as there is Internet, my docs, photos, and compositions (and some of my mom's acting roles and singing acumen) will annoy people into the 22nd century when God comes down and says, "I gave you humans a few million years and look what you did!" Then poof!
