Some people cringe when I crack my knuckles. Others almost faint when I pop my neck and back. They would probably go comatose if they could see and hear what my Chiro does to me. God, I love that man. <---in a professional, brotherly way, of course :p

I'm hooked. I see him every two weeks. I have ribs that pop out of place on a regular basis. He says it's stress that causes it. I have no reason to doubt him.

Also, my sacral ligaments on the left side are slightly more stretched then the right; so my sacrum goes out of adjustment as well.

I limp in there, hurting everywhere and I spring out of there with nary any pain anywhere. That man is God.

<< I love my chiropractor too! He's my bro! :) >>

Oh, you lucky DOG! You have a Chiro in the family? How cool is that? Don' t piss him off, that's for sure...

*Sssssnap!* "oh sorry little bro...your head will return to it's normal face-front position in a few weeks...or when you wash my car, whichever comes first." LOL! :)

I have a $15/copay. They insisted I had to go 3x a week in the beginning to build up my muscles in my lower back so that it would correct my lower back problems. The treatement was to put me on the electrode-massager for about 15mins then they'd do a 1minute "adjustment" and send me on my way. The first visit I felt a little better when I left. After that, I didn't notice any improvement over the next two weeks (or 6 visits). So, I stopped going even though they insisted it could take longer for me to get better. I disagreed. I'm no doctor but I just didn't feel like they were doing all they could to correct the problem. While I may have seen some benefit from the therapy, I didn't feel like gambling away my $$$ to find out.

My Wife also went, she ended up going back for a few months--but she had other problems than lower back pain, like headaches and such, caused by spinal problems. She was seeing an improvement. I questioned her on whether or not she needed to go the 3x a week towards the end, but she was doing better so she continued to go until the max # of visits was reached by my insurance co for last year. After she stopped going, the pain didn't return so she may have to go back to get an adjustment every now and again, but, for the most part she's doing better.

Overall, I don't think chiropractors are the scam that some doctors and regular folks make them out to be... however... I do think they are in a business to make money and encourage you to return more often than may be necessary to resolve a problem. There's such a wide range of them, that, there's bound to be a few crooks in the bunch, but, some research and common sense should help prevent getting scammed.

<< Does he use the Palmer method, Mike? >>

Oh, real funny, smart-guy. ;) "Palmer" heheheheh, he said, "Palmer" Palmer? I dont' even know her!

On a serious note, he has helped me TREMENDOUSLY. Chiropractic isn't for everyone. It can't fix things that aren't there, ie. you've had a disc removed. But for people like me with spasming neck and back muscles and arthritis in my L4 and L5 it works wonders.

Har...har....no, really. Palmer method is a certain..well, METHOD. They don't YANK you and PULL you, etc. they use a neat little table that moves when they give a quick push, etc. They specialize in actually MOVING the bones and making them stay rather than just giving you a good feeling for a week or two.

Look 'em up and give thema try...I used to have this guy who had this little "gun" that would snap when he put it on you. No moving table. Other guys who would just yank me...

This guy(his name is Glen Batson) is great!

Hey, Mr. Photochop. Sorry for the delay; I was in a meeting *yawn*. Actually, I didn't know what it was called until you just described it to me. He IS a Palmer Guy. The table has five different pads that all move independently and they go down when he pushes on the part of your body that's above the table. He also has the little silver gun with the rubber doorstop thing on the end.

That's for adjusting vertabrae and bones as well. He told me "this little gun can move bones faster than I can by hand" or words to that effect.

So, the answer is "yes." He gave me a Palmer. :D

I just started going to one a few weeks ago for lower back pain.

I didn't know he used the Palmer method until you described it.

He also freaked me out the first time on the table because when I was on my back he turned my head and cracked my neck and I thought he was gonna break it the way the bones cracked.

I have been 5 times now Mondays and Fridays ($10 co-pay) and I DO feel an improvement with the electricity treatments and the roller bed and his moving table adjustments.

I think it is way too soon to know if I am hooked, but he says 5 more visits and I am done because he will teach me some exercises that will keep my bones and muscles in place.

No more chiropractic for me anymore.

I get more noticeable and longer-lasting benefits from acupuncture for problems I used to have treated with chiropractic manipulation.

LOL! Yes, it can be a bit scary for someone who is new to it. I've been cracking my own neck for years now, so I know what it sounds/feels like. It's amazing that a maladjustment in your neck can make your lower back hurt and vice versa.

My Chiro has also used pressure point treatments to help w/the muscle spasms. Some of the points where he presses aren't physically colocated w/the ailment they are supposed to cure, but it works well. *shrugs*

APOPPIN - with a nick like yours, I'd think you were a Chiropractic Junkie too! Hahahahaha! Just joking. So, acutpuncture is working for you, huh? Never tried it myself. me\<---afraid of needles. I may give it a shot, though.

I really, really like the way I feel after a Chiro adjustment, though. Everything feels "smooth" and there's no stiffness when I walk. I'm such a mess....Maybe i need to take one bigass acupuncture needle and just jam it thru my skull, thereby fixing everything. :Q j/k

Call me formerly, a'poppin'. Used to be a regular if not a junkie . . .

I surf/bodyboard and that is pretty severe on the lower back. Acupuncture works for me (including healing whiplash injury to the neck disks) with longer-lasting good results.

The needles are as fine as a human hair - no pain whatsoever. Go to a acupuncture specialist - not an MD - preferably with a lot of experience.

My dad's a physical therapist and he hates chiropractors. He thinks they are a total waste because instead of telling you how to help heal your injury they just crack you all up and make you feel good for a few hours only to have pain return, thus requiring more appointments and more money for the Dr. He thinks it's kind of like a scam, cuz they just have you keep coming back (no pun intended) forever. A physical therapist on the other hand will teach you exercises and crap that will help you get rid of your pains and injuries by rebuiding or simply building muscles and crap and they also require fewer regular visits cuz the patients learn the exercises and are encouraged to do them on their own.

Obviously there is a reason for chiropractors to be around. They wouldn't exist if it wasn't a valid form of medicine and I am sure I have also made my father's stance more extreme than it really is, but I just wanted to get the point across.

By the way, if I could go get all popped and snapped for free or very little charge, I absolutely would.

I used to date a girl that was a PT...oh, the flexibility exercises she showed me....*sigh* but I'm getting OT here...

That's cool that your Dad is a PT, I'm sure he helps you out when you bang yourself up. PTs actually know how to crack (adjust) bones and joints and stuff as well. Some are just as good as Chiros, but there is that license thing too....

I see my Chiro tomorrow...I feel like I'm going over to my GFs house! :D me\<---all atwitter w/excitement! Can'ya feel it?
