Are you haunted by any songs played automatically in your head?

In 2007, I started a job in Dubai and they accommodated me in one of their villas in Mirdif. It was a one hour drive from Mirdif to Dubai Internet City and the company driver would tune into this popular radio station (forgot the name) that would play the same song list on repeat every day from 8 AM to 9 AM. Two of the songs from that list, "Shut and Drive" (Rihanna?) and "Umbrella" (Rihanna also I guess) will occasionally start playing automatically in my head from time to time. It can be pretty annoying and for a few moments, I feel like I'm back in that car, waiting to start another lousy day (few people in that office were pretty mean and racist).

Any songs that constantly haunt you like the ones I mentioned and do you find yourself transported back to when those songs played?

I would be hella pissed of a Rihanna song played in my head. Of course, to the best of my knowledge, I've never heard any song by Rihanna...I'm not sure I'd even know...but occasionally, the "auto jukebox" in my head will play something that I don't really like...but can't get it to stop.

All of them. I have a constant flow of music from misc genres in my head at all times.

It's pretty infuriating.

I wonder what these would be before music was invented. Bird songs? Did birds have songs before us? Did we learn songs from them or vice versa?

The main riff from the Satyricon track Dark Medieval Times sometimes plays inside my head. Thankfully it is one of my favorite riffs.

Sometimes I close my eyes and randomly see Bud Dwyer kill himself, but no, no strong emotions tied to the intrusive thoughts of music.

Nope, the only music radio I listen to, is a metal podcast, so I haven't heard any new pop music on a regular basis the last 20+ years.

When I get one I hate stuck in there, I can usually pull up bits of Dave Brubeck's 'Take Five' or Traffic's 'Low Spark Of High Heeled Boys' to flush the junk out.

And just to mix the thread posts, sometimes "A Nightingale Sang In Barkley Square' works too.

None that show up constantly, but some songs can make me think of a certain time and place. I mostly get songs stuck in my head when I'm working on learning them now, which is kind of a double-edged sword because it helps learning it, but I also don't like listening to the same song more than once a day.

Any song with a duration of over 24 hours is impossible to listen to more than once a day. Just gotta find the right song :)

I also could just... not listen to a standard length song more than once per day, and I think that seems the preferable option 😄
