I am just a server/bartender which is a pretty sh!tty job in and of itself, but I will say though that I work with some great people and I can't really think of a single person whom I work with that is not good friends with everyone else in the restaurant.
I would say we all (and I mean EVERYONE, managers excluded because they can't although they would if they could and they used to before they moved up from server or whatever to manager) go out drinking at least maybe twice a week. Everyone jokes around and I dunno, it's just a great place to work. Much more so than my last job.
I can't imagine working in the jobs some of you guys talk about, where if you look at someone funny they yell harassment and go get you fired. I don't have to tip toe around anything up at work and to be honest it creates a much better work environment. Case in point today was MLK day and so much was said that would have got people fired at most jobs, but we just laugh about it. We have the front of the house (servers, hostesses, bartenders, etc) and the back of the house (cooks, backup, dishguys, etc) and we were all sitting around smoking before we opened today and started talking about the "black of the house" and all kinda stuff and they laugh it off and say something about us etc.
It almost makes me not want to find a better job where I have to work in some kind of completely sterile environment where no one goes out and drinks with each other and has any fun.
