I've enjoyed my time -- the story is fairly engaging and all the references to pop culture are amusing. The writing is very good, and the voice acting is decent in most regards too (I wouldn't mind if the player actually spoke, but my character does play the "silent brooding" type quite well).

I worry that the game will get stale very quickly once I've maxed out my character, but I've already gotten quite a bit of play time out of it and I'm just about done only the second zone.

Gone are the days when I'll play an MMO for 2-5 years. I think it's much more reasonable now to look at their purchases like I do other games -- I'll get a good 100-200 hours out of them and then be done. If that takes 3 months to do, then that's ~$80 out of my pocket for something that's given me a lot more enjoyment than many of the single player games I purchase.

I've been up through ~25% of Blue Mountain and have enjoyed the game, but I definitely do wonder about how the the game will feel when I'm at end game content and have almost all of the skills and ability wheel filled up since replayability looks to be limited and just faction based

while not exactly the same, I see a lot of similarities with some of TSW's game system to D3's. in TSW, you eventually can gain access to all skills & abilities and then select 7 actives/passives for whatever play style you want. TSW's QL gear system also seems similar to D3's iLvl 61, 62, 63 stuff, but can't comment how TSW plays out end game with that system.

I think FunCom has said they are looking to add new content to TSW at a monthly pace and am curious how well they are going to pull it off.

Am enjoying the game sofar although I think there could be more of a tutorial regarding the skill tree.

a tutorial for a variety of things would be helpful

regarding the skill tree, I'm assuming you're talking about the Ability Wheel

I started out by taking a look at the pre-built faction deck builds to see the logic & play style behind the various decks, then I made my own custom deck using Blood/Elementalist for solo DPS and Blood/Fist for group healing.

just a FYI though, when you hit Blue Mountain, you'll find out if the build you're using is actually effective for soloing or not. if you are using one of the pre-built decks as a guideline, do not assume that all of those decks will be effective solo. unfortunately, it's difficult to determine how good a build is for soloing as content becomes more difficult until you're using that build against the harder content.

I'm pretty much in the same boat. I played eq for close to 7 years I guess. And it broke me from ever wanting to play a game that long again. Generally, I'll play a game and get 1 character up to max, then dink around on some alts, and then drop it, usually.

I feel like I get my monies worth doing this though. So, I'm happy.

Oh, this for sure.

I decided to go guns/blades first, since I'm templar faction, and I wanted the costume.

But, I at first I was just using whatever actives and passives looked interesting, and it got me through the first 2 zones just fine. But, as soon as I hit blue mountains, I seriously had to pay attention to the skills, how they interact, and how to be the most efficient.

The first time I went into the area with those bug things was quite an eye opener.

Man I hate those things.

Right now I'm real close to the end of the blue mountains, and I'm more or less concentrating on my channeled skills, and it seems to be doing fine for now. I guess I'll see how it does when i get to the next zone down.
