Hmmm...no offense, but it seems like nitpicking. In fairness, I haven't used the Ipod's wheel, but the sansa works fine for me. Even if the ipod wheel is better, I'd think the extra features of the Sansa would make up for that...but that's just me. Also, I have no interest in using any of these subscription services, especially not the propietary Itunes, so the Sansa made sense to me.

I just got back from a trip to New Orleans, and I really enjoyed using it. In fact, it was so discrete I never turned it off during my whole day of travelling, and not once did any of the flight attendants notice.

Haha, except that intermodal transport is THE most secure means of transportation available. Dozens of people handle product moving by air, and it's in smaller, easier-to-tamper-with containers. Intermodal containers are virtually tamperproof. The only people walking around near them are customs agents and dock workers strapping them onto a truck chassis or railroad car for overland transport. Everyone else is operating heavy machinery. The dockworkers are completely uninterested in opening containers, nevermind knowing where each one came from and where it's going.

And if you're really paranoid about your cargo security, there are tamperproofing devices that can be put on containers, which only you and customs can open. Air transport is RIDICULOUSLY expensive, and ridiculously insecure if you're looking to prevent "leaks".

Seeing as how every single Apple product I have ever bought (well over 50, spanning a loooooooong time) has shipped via FedEx Overnight from Shanghai, I'd say: No!

Those are custom one-off orders. NOT the stuff that goes to retail.

And none of the items going onto these trucks would be one-off orders, because they aren't available for sale until Apple actually has them sitting in retail. Trust me, they don't ship a MILLION iPods through FedEx Overnight.

There mere fact that a manufacturer direct single unit order comes from China via FedEx overnight has no bearing on the rest of the distribution and supply chain. Trust me, those iPods sitting on Best Buy were sitting just a little ways above sea level, not 35000 feet above it.

Let me elaborate further.

I have worked at an Apple Retail Store.

The shipment of a couple hundred 5G iPods, and the iPod nano orders, came through an air shipment.

Same thing for the iMacs, Mac Pros, etc.

The inital shipments go via air. Yes, it's really fvcking expensive, but if it gets a product out the door three weeks earlier, it's all worth it.
