Am I receiving someone else's email?
Gmail doesn't recognize dots (.) as characters within a username. This way, you can add and remove dots to your username for desired address variations. messages sent to your.username@gmail.com and y.o.u.r.u.s.e.r.n.a.m.e@gmail.com are delivered to the same inbox, since the characters in the username are the same.
Keep in mind that hyphens (-) and underscores (_) can't be used in a Gmail address.

If you created your account with a dot in your username and you wish you hadn't, you can change your 'Reply-to address.' To change your reply-to address:

Click 'Settings' at the top of any Gmail page.
Enter your username@gmail.com without a dot in the 'Reply-to address' field.
Click 'Save Changes.'
When you log in to Gmail, you need to enter any dots that were originally defined as part of your username.

I don't see how this is possible. I have an account : MattChristianson [at] Gmail.com, I can't create an account Matt.Christianson [at] Gmail.com nor can I create an account Mat.t.Christ.ianson [at] Gmail.com

So...how could duplicate accounts even exist? Or...is this a new security update?

once you registered MattChristianson [at] gmail.com you can't register any username with a dot in it. I'm guessing when you create an account the dots are parsed out

Beats me. I had several E-mails to my G-mail account where someone thought I was their mother and forwarded a bunch of twaddle to me. I corrected them on five occasions and they still didn't remove me from their list. So I reported them to their ISP for spamming.

Haven't received another E-mail from them since. 😀
