Are you generally secure with your purchase decisions?

Or do spend time incessantly making threads seeking others' approvals because you want others to validate your decisions?

I read and do my homework, once I buy, I am usually confident I made the right decision.

Depends?

I usually care less what others "approve of" when it comes to my personal purchasing decisions.

I also like to seek opinions and advice on things I may be mulling over, so I can determine product quality, how well it integrates (or can be integrated) with anything else I use (if applicable), etc. I like to know if something I'm looking at will last through use/abuse, if there is a failure rate that I need to know about, and what have you.

I read and do my homework, once I buy, I am usually confident I made the right decision.

Yep, I'm more prone to do heavy research on anything I'm interested in buying. Rarely am I impulse, but I do that too on occasion.
If I can't get enough research data on my own, enough to satisfy my peace of mind knowing I will be happy after purchase, then I'll look to community opinions and advice.

I'm the worst. I usually spend the first few days with regret, then wondering if I can return it or resell it, then finally settle into accepting it.

I'm secure with all my purchases, though I will ask for advice beforehand if I am buying something where others may have greater insight and can recommend alternatives (computer parts, car-related items, etc.).

Probably on the "more secure" side with my purchases. Occasionally I will make the impulse buy and regret it later (have done this already a couple times this year, d'oh). Typically if that happens I'll make some sort of effort to return the product and get my money back.

Like most of you, I spend a few hours reading about it before buying and evaluating different prices.

"Hmm should I buy this? Seems like a good deal. Is the product good? Do I really need it? Should I wait for something else?"

I spend entirely too much time analyzing how much I want/need the item and what is a good price point. More often than not, I tend to just end up deciding that it will cost more money than the value I'd get from owning it. However, when I do buy something, I don't regret it.

I couldn't care less what people think of what I bought/am buying, unless I'm looking for advice from someone more knowledgable on the subject (currently debating on a receiver and a couple of bookshelf speakers).

When I decide to buy something significant I usually already spent tons of time researching, asking around, more researching, and more researching. More often than not I ended up deciding to not get it, but when I decide to get it, I've always been satisfied.

I generally research and read reviews long enough that I am confident in what I buy. But last week, I was home in bed, high on pain killers and watched the iPad announcement. Before I could stop myself I had ordered two (one by mistake when the web site puked out an error message that the "order could not be completed").

They arrived today and I am not sure I will really get the use out of it. The second one will become a prize at our company BBQ this spring.

i know what i wanted, so usually yea.

last time i had a buyer's remorse was when i decided to go on a 7 days cruise instead of 4 days in the galapagos islands. $300+ mistake, but turned out okay. I saw whales and swam with dolphins.

Oh, I just turned in my Bersa Thunder for consignment, so thats one item I had buyers regret over. But am getting back 85% so really its just a long term rental if you think about it.
And I didnt regret it that much, just wanted something better.

No, I generally research my purchasing decisions and make the best choice at the time.

Yes.

Depends, it's good IMO to not give a shit but it's better to not give a shit but pretend that you do.

For stuff under 200 bucks, I usually don't think twice. For larger purchases, say 500 bucks and higher, I will really think about it and keep asking myself if I REALLY need it, and if it can wait.

When it comes to tools, I often ask myself how much I think I'll use it, and check how it cost to rent, and I usually end up buying it. It does not take much convincing to get me to buy a tool. :p
