Are you enrolled in a "frequent flyer" mileage type program?

I'm enrolling for an Alaska Air platinum card. And supposedly whenever I charge something. The value of dollars is converted into free miles. (i.e. $200.00 = 200 miles). By the way, does anyone know if these are legit miles? Anyways, do you think the program is worth it? I'm a student and don't travel much b/c I can't really afford it. But if I had a few thousand "flyer miles" I'd definitely increase my travelage. What's your opinion?

my cc isn't as exact as $200 = 200 miles. But i do get miles. I haven't used them yet, but maybe i'm just saving up for a trip to Europe and don't know it.

I have a United Airlines Mileage Plus credit card and it is legit. Every purchase I make I get actual miles towards a free ticket. The best part is that the miles don't expire unlike some other cards. Meaning, if you don't use them by a certain date, you will loose them. I love mine. I have flown from Hawaii to the mainland a couple times on frequent flier miles.

It's only good if you use your credit card a lot ($25,000) and pay it off every month, otherwise you'll be paying interest charges which kind of defeats the purpose of earning mileage points. Usually $1 = 1 mile and typically you need 25,000 miles to redeem one free roundtrip domestic plane ticket wherever Alaska flies. As long as you have a good APR, no annual fee (most airline cards do have an annual fee), then it doesn't hurt to have. Make sure to read the super tiny fine print because sometimes miles expire after 3-5 years so hopefully within that time you'll earn a free ticket. It's not as easy as it sounds though.

Here's an excellent DVDTalk.com thread which lists credit cards with rewards. I personally like my CitiBank Dividends VISA, 1% back, I get a check cut and sent to me whenever it reaches $100, no annual fee, and a decent 15.9% APR.
